Basic point of the socialist-anarchist systems
The key point of the various SAS (socialist-anarchist system) approaches is that capitalism is a wasteful and exploitative system.
It leads to inequality, abuse of power, misuse of resources, a narrowing of the focus of human energy and creativity and an over emphasis on material accumulation. As if that was not enough it also leads to a focus on selfishness, a decreased concern for other people, and great waste of the potential of the vast majority of people. That is all, as far as I can see, correct. The SAS aims to replace this with a system that will better use our resources, that will encourage cooperation, that will see far more participation in the running of our lives and our areas, an increased individual sense of purpose and meaning, a greater material well being in general, benefiting the majority, etc. And such a system CAN be built. Not overnight or without mistakes, but step by step we can probably do it well enough. Not a perfect system, but a better one.
So, IF that is correct (it may not be, of course - perhaps the SAS approach is misguided) then the question for all of us is: am I helping towards that better system, or am I hindering it? It makes sense for the ruling class and those who benefit the most from the current system to hinder such change, but it does not make sense for the vast majority of people. So, those ordinary people that do still work for the preservation of the capitalist system, despite that, have been duped. Those that sit back and do nothing, allowing it to continue have been miss-directed and cheated. Those who feel they want to change but think it hopeless, capitalism is too strong, have allowed themselves to be drained of their ideals.
Those who HAVE tried change and demonstrated for it have normally be defamed, jailed, directly attacked and even outright killed. And most of this is deliberate, done to continue the present system and/or it’s the result of built in, structural aspects of the capitalist system. Nevertheless, probably real change towards a better system can happen and I am trying to help towards that, because, in a nutshell, I think that capitalist system is not good enough and better one can be had.
That’s it, that’s all she wrote.
